Lavender ~ one of the most recognizable, versatile, and widely used essential oil due to its extremely gentle and effective properties. Lavender’s rich, deep, sweet aroma, helps ease insomnia, stress, worry, and headaches. It has been beneficial for respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis and colds. Lavender’s anti-inflammatory, skin-healing properties will help heal burns, bug bites, bee stings, rashes, and skin irritations or infections.
Peppermint ~ with its camphorous, crisp, minty fresh, sweet aroma, peppermint is an extremely versatile essential oil, and a general tonic for the entire body. It helps calm your nerves, is excellent for motion sickness, nausea, headaches, and great for muscle pain relief. It has the advantage of being anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic, as well as stimulating to the circulatory system. Peppermint also uplifts your mind to reduce fatigue, awakens and refreshes, and supports self confidence. Peppermint is not recommended during pregnancy.
Eucalyptus ~ has a strong, woodsy, camphor scent and is highly beneficial for respiratory infections like bronchitis, sinusitis and allergies, as well as colds, flu, fevers, and congestion. When used as a spray mist, eucalyptus essential oil is an excellent antiseptic for killing airborne bacteria in your home, office, or car. Eucalyptus is not recommended during pregnancy, or with children under 10 years old.
Frankincense ~ this ancient and precious oil, also known as boswellia, has long been associated with meditation, spiritual ceremonies, and skin care. It has a fresh, woody, spicy scent and is renowned for its calming and grounding properties, builds immunity, reduces inflammation and respiratory problems including colds, coughs and bronchitis, and is excellent for aging and mature skin. Frankincense is great for headaches and tension in the neck muscles, or trauma to help reduce inflammation and pain.
Roman Chamomile ~ is a gentle oil with a sweet, warm, and apple-like fragrance. Chamomile essential oil is calming and relaxing, and is helpful for both the nervous and digestive systems, headaches and migraines, and has a soothing as well as healing effect on the skin. Chamomile is not recommended during pregnancy.
Tea Tree ~ has been called the “miracle oil,” due to its powerful immune system stimulants, and is a must for every home first aid kit. This light and spicy essential oil has a more pungent, fresh and herbaceous scent, and is the single most effective antibacterial and anti-fungal essential oil. It is highly beneficial for the respiratory system, colds, flu, asthma and bronchitis, as well as burns, insect bites and stings.
Rosemary ~ has a clean, crisp, and powerfully refreshing herbal scent. Rosemary creates circulation and warmth, soothing sore muscles, aches and pains. This oil also enhances mental clarity, concentration, memory and creativity; and is useful for studying, computer work, and all intellectually demanding pursuits. It is also great for migraines, headaches, and sinus problems. Rosemary is not recommended during pregnancy.
Geranium ~ has a flowery rose sweet soft scent and is known for its antiseptic and anti-fungal properties. It can help ease anxiety, apprehension, and mood swings, and is an excellent anti-inflammatory oil, especially for edema or puffy inflammation. Geranium is not recommended during pregnancy.
Patchouli ~ has a rich musky-sweet, as well as a strong spicy and herbaceous scent that may remind many people of the hippie era. This oil has a grounding and balancing effect on the emotions, and helps to calm stress and anxiety. Patchouli is very effective in regenerating skins cells, and is especially useful for aged skin, cracked dehydrated skin, eczema, acne, and fungal disorders, as well as an excellent insect repellent.
Sandalwood ~ this relatively pricey essential oil has a warm, balsamic rich and woody scent, with both relaxing and calming properties, and is a true and noble aphrodisiac for both men and women. Sandalwood also helps reduce tension and confusion, stress, and anxiety, and is also used as a moisturizer and antiseptic for skin concerns.
Ylang Ylang ~ has an intense sweet, exotic floral scent that has a calming effect on the mind and body; and has both a sensual aphrodisiac quality, as well as a sedative effect, and helps with anxiety, fear, panic, and tension.
